My wish to be the next Central Coordinator at Acsion came from my experiences within the team and its aspirations. A year ago, I had recently moved to Montreal and had just started my degree at Concordia in Political Science. Coming from an African background, I wanted something familiar, but also something bigger than myself because a wise person once told me, \u201cIf you want to make it big, go for something bigger than yourself.\u201d That is when I discovered Acsion, a network that deeply resonated with what I was looking for.
Acsion\u2019s mission at Concordia truly inspired me, with its student-led chapter focused on mentorship, career growth initiatives, and community building. During my time as an Assistant Outreach Coordinator, I learned a great deal about the community, and these experiences motivated me.
My passion for Acsion has not diminished. I am still driven to bring more students into the network and help guide curious, ambitious, or lost students, just as Acsion guided me. I have witnessed the transformative potential of this organization and want to ensure more students can benefit from it.
Additionally, my time at Acsion allowed me to learn from current executives, gaining insight into their vision. With that knowledge, I am eager to continue the mission of previous students and take it further. I am applying for the Education Coordinator position because I want to be more involved in ACSioN in a way that has a meaningful impact on students.
Being Assistant Finance Coordinator this year made me understand how things work behind the scenes. It showed me how important it is to stay organized, keep information concise and make sure everything is accessible to everyone.
Outside of ACSioN, I have had multiple responsibilities that taught me how to stay consistent and manage my time effectively, which helped me be more reliable.
I also volunteer at a youth house, which helped shape how I see the community. I have seen the work that happens behind the scenes, particularly in organization and communication, and how important it is for creating spaces where people feel comfortable, supported, and understood.
I would like to bring this into the role by helping create an environment where students from the African diaspora (including Africa, the Caribbean, and the Americas) feel a strong sense of belonging, can thrive and have access to meaningful resources. I think that I would make an excellent candidate for this Finance Coordinator position because I am an extremely organized person with attention to detail and a commitment to student initiatives. As a student in Finance, I have developed good analytical and time management skills while balancing school and other obligations.

Currently, I am an IT Assistant at ACSioN Concordia. This position has provided me with significant experience working in a team and ensuring that all aspects of an organization\u2019s activities run smoothly. Furthermore, my involvement in this organization has also provided me with an understanding of its structure and its needs.

I was also an Executive Member in the Student Association at Coll\u00e8ge Jean-de-Br\u00e9beuf. This position provided me with good experience in working in a team and organizing events, as well as assisting in administrative and financial tasks.

I also work as a tutor, and this position has provided me with good communication skills and an ability to break down complex ideas into simple terms. I am also bilingual in English and French, which makes me able to work in collaboration within a diverse community.

Based on my background in finance, my experience within ACSioN, and my strong sense of responsibility, I am confident in my ability to effectively manage budgets.

Being new, by way of active participation, to ACSioN, I can say I don’t have much experience with the club. However, I identify with the core message, fostering leadership and community within the Afro diaspora. I have waded in the waters of socializing around different clubs at Concordia and found it is difficult for many students to access clubs because they don’t know what it is they offer or what to expect from them. I commit to helping change that.
With a fresh mindset that understands the wants of new students and how to reach them , I wish to see more people attending the events and seeking community and uplifting by working with us. It is a vision that is achievable and by taking on this position, I would like to play my hand in making sure it is realized sooner rather than later.
